(Haiti) Degeance is unique, and different from any of our other schools. Not all of the structures on this campus are made from permanent concrete walls yet; the classrooms have dirt floors and walls made from woven banana leaves. You can now drive to Degeance. Preschool through 6th grade students attend this school, and the majority of them walk long distances, sometimes even an hour or two, just to get to school each day. Their families live off the land and live in small one or two room homes.
Degeance school was on the side of the mountain for years. Many who have visited in the past remember this view approaching the school’s old location.
