The book of Romans – Paul wrote this letter to the church in Rome while he was on his third missionary journey in Corinth. The theme of Romans is the revelation of God’s saving grace and righteousness in the gospel of Jesus Christ. I tell you all this because we have over 200 people in Haiti studying and taking a 6-week Bible quiz over the Book of Romans.
Each of the last three years, Pastor Herve has challenged the church to do an in-depth Bible study and quiz to end the year. Each week participants are given 20 questions they have to answer and turn in to be graded. On December 24th, at the conclusion of the quiz, there is a huge celebration with food, worship, preaching and of course the top five places are awarded. This is a big deal!
Why? Why study the book of Romans when there are so many other things to worry about in Haiti? Eternal perspective! “God’s word is alive, active and sharper than any double-edged sword. It penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12.
Spend time in God’s word today. It is worth it! If you don’t know where to read, join over 200 Haitians reading the book of Romans. Allow God to shape your life through His word.
